First things first – the mission. We’re not just cooking; we’re crafting moments for migrants in our local community. The magic happens at First Saint Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where my friends Olia, Mary Claire, and I whip up dishes that speak the language of love.
This week, we dived into the culinary world, crafting a tortellini stew that’s nothing short of a masterpiece with a touch of red wine, beef juice, and a vibrant medley of veggies—roasted zucchini, carrots, spinach, and mushrooms, all dancing together to hit those perfect notes. And that’s not all. We whipped up some velvety mashed potatoes, smothered in homemade gravy, adding a dash of The Chicago Help Initiative magic.
